A Glimpse of their Experience Abroad

Carlyn Lizan

Hyatt Regency

Coconut Point

U.S.A.

My internship in Hyatt Regency Coconut Point helped me by exposing me into the real culinary experience. It helped me improve my skills in the kitchen and apply what I've learned from school.

You will learn a lot in your life. You will learn a lot on working ethics and on becoming an independent person. I developed my confidence in facing trials in my life and learned on how to interact with different kinds of people. I gained good friends and memories you will treasure for the rest of your life.

This is an experience you should take to become a better professional and person.
It is not just an internship but it is also a life experience. You should take the opportunity!

In my internship in Marriot Vacation Club, I began working as Food and Beverage Team leader.  I handled all customers with the service level that they expect in associates at Marriott Vacation Club.  I also spent time as an Activities Coordinator where I handled activities and events for guests of all age groups and I frequently received positive customer feedback as I became a key contributor in all resort diner events.

I received many Way to Go’s, an award given for frequently recognized by customers as an impact associate. In April 2011, I was voted as “Associate of the Month” amongst the entire resort. This is an award that comes with much prestige as it recognizes associate for customer service and teamwork.

Without CIA I can’t fulfill my goals and enhance my experience. After my internship, I am planning to apply for a job where I can share what I have learned in my training in the USA.

Through CIA, I learned so many things for my future career. With them, I have realized that there is so much in store not only for me but also for other future interns/trainees. I discovered how great other cultures are through the other interns and trainees I have met in US. In my experience, the best part was putting what I have learned into action. I learned what I wanted to do as my future career and I definitely have gained more urge to pursue it.

Without CIA, I would not have met my fiancé. We are getting married this year and we have started planning for our future. I plan on working in the same field but I was to focus more on the Spa Business. Four to five years from now, I would like to put up my own Spa Business.

My experience here in Miami Florida is awesome. I am enjoying a lot because all of my associates are easy to work with especially since they always give me a hand when I have problems both personal and at work. As a chef, I am being assigned to almost all of their stations in the kitchen. This experience helps me develop my skills, imagination and techniques.

In working my papers for my internship program, I did not encounter any problems because CIA did their job very professionally. They helped me in the difficulties I have encountered during interviews and paper processing.
